  • Erling Haaland had a quiet game against Arsenal in their Community Shield tie
  • He was switched out after 65 minutes and his replacement Cole Palmer scored
  • The Norwegian was booed off but he had a perfect reaction to the Arsenal fans

Erling Haaland was unfazed by Arsenal fans booing him after he was substituted in the 65th minute of the Community Shield, which was a quiet game for him.

Arsenal triumphed over Manchester City on penalties to win the second Community Shield of Mikel Arteta's reign as manager, which will be a confidence booster ahead of the new season.

Leandro Trossard came off the bench to level things for the Gunners, per Arsenal's official Twitter account, after fellow substitute, Cole Palmer, had put the Citizens ahead with a fine strike that beat Aaron Ramsdale into the far corner.

Ramsdale was among the heroes for the Premier League runners-up, saving a spot kick from Rodri while City captain, Kevin de Bruyne, struck the woodwork.

Despite Bernardo Silva converting for the Champions League winners, Arteta's men produced four perfect attempts in a row to secure the trophy.

Haaland trolls Arsenal fans

Haaland struggled throughout his 65 minutes on the pitch, making just 14 touches before eventually being replaced by academy star, Palmer, who scored City's only goal.

According to CBS Sports, the Norwegian star was booed off the pitch by Arsenal fans but he had a brilliant response - lifting three fingers to indicate three trophies won last season.

However, the London club had the last laugh as Pep Guardiola lost his third consecutive Community Shield trophy, having lost the previous two to Leicester City and Liverpool.

The Spaniard would likely not dwell on this with the EPL season opener on Friday against another of his proteges - Vincent Kompany and Burnley - who were impressive in the Championship last season.

Talking points from Community Shield

Sports Brief also reported on five points from the Community Shield after Arsenal beat Man City on penalties after a late equaliser from Trossard.

Both teams showed risk and experimentation with team selections and despite not wanting to give much away, some details were obvious.

For instance, the Chelsea players sold to both teams appeared out of place. Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz clearly still need to find their place.
